This short film is a reflection on why we, humans, climb mountains. On top of the mountain is commonly used as a synonym for success, an expression related to status, an active competition and comparison. We conquest every summit and we place flags. Tales tell of us climbing up to reach a sacred place, looking for the gods, alone, longing for connection, a sacrifice of the body and a challenge for the mind. But, do I have to play the hero to go to the top? Is there enough place up there? These sisters go together to the mountains, caring for and respecting each other. The top is shared; it´s a transitional space. I think we need to take a hand, step up, give a hand, step down and make that moving image work in our heads. A narrative that aims to be personal and collective. This is how I like it to be, a utopia, and one that is about to be real. You are very welcome to enter the mountain.
Denna kortfilm är en reflektion över varför vi bestiger berg. On Top of the Mountain används ofta som en synonym för framgång, ett uttryck för status, aktiv tävlan och jämförande. Vi övervinner varje bergstopp och hissar flaggor. Vi hör berättelser om att klättra uppåt för att nå en helig plats, söka gudarna, ensamma, i jakt på en koppling, ett kroppsligt offer och en mental utmaning. Men måste jag spela hjälte för att nå toppen? Finns det plats där uppe? Dessa systrar beger sig till bergen tillsammans, de vårdar och respekterar varandra. Toppen delas. Den är ett övergångsrum. Jag tror att vi behöver ta någons hand, ta ett steg upp, sträcka ut vår hand, gå ner och få denna rörliga bild att fungera i våra huvuden. Ett narrativ som försöker vara personligt och kollektivt. Detta är hur jag vill att det ska vara, en utopi som snart är förverkligad. Du är välkommen att bestiga berget.
