A swimming pool is an open container filled with water.
I’m thinking: If I stand at the edge of the pool, looking down into the water, I can see the bottom of the container. It is made up of many small squares that together form a perfectly structured grid. If the water stays still, that is. The water stays still as long as nothing disturbs it.
I’m floating: Surrounded by the water, so close to my skin. A ‘glup!’ as the water enters my ears, as if they have been turned off. Doesn’t it feel as if everything/nothing exists? The water would have been still if I had stayed at the edge of the pool.
In this piece, the swimming pool is a metaphor for something peaceful and dreamlike. An escape from reality. Another important aspect of the piece is the calming properties of the craft.
En swimmingpool är en öppen behållare fylld med vatten.
Jag tänker: Om jag står vid poolkanten och tittar ner i vattnet ser jag behållarens botten. Den är uppbyggd av många små kvadrater som tillsammans bildar ett perfekt strukturerat rutnät. Om vattnet håller sig stilla, vill säga. Vattnet är stilla om ingenting startar rörelsen.
Jag flyter: Omsluten av vatten som kommer nära inpå huden. Kluck låter det i öronen, som om de stängs av. Visst känns det som om allting/ingenting finns? Vattnet hade varit stilla om jag stannat vid poolkanten.
Det här är ett arbete som handlar om swimmingpoolen som en metafor för något lugnt och drömskt. Som en flykt från verkligheten. Det är också ett arbete där konsthantverkets förmåga att göra mig själv lugn är viktig.
