My frustration with today’s consumerist society and the social and environmental downsides of the fashion industry. The collective unwillingness to recognise the true cost of clothes. What can sustainable production mean for me as a designer and how can I have an impact on how we value textiles?
Using artisanal methods, I create garments that cannot be sold for what is currently considered a “reasonable price”. The focus is instead on small-scale production of knitted and hand-printed garments with expressive pattern combinations made from natural materials. Slow production of simple, wearable models manufactured in limited numbers. Small quantities and the uniqueness of the garment manufacturing process make them more difficult to replace than something that has been mass-produced. This creates an emotional attachment and we therefore value these items more highly. We are more cautions, take better care of the garment and mend it if it breaks.
A design that is intended to last over time, with the hope of being able to educate and influence the consumer to demand more sustainable products.

Med hantverksmässiga metoder skapar jag plagg som inte går att sälja till vad som idag anses vara ett ”rimligt pris”. Fokus ligger istället på småskalig produktion av stickade och handtryckta plagg med uttrycksfulla mönsterkombinationer i naturmaterial. Långsam produktion av enkla bärbara modeller tillverkade i små upplagor. Liten kvantitet och det unika i plaggens tillverkning gör dem svårare att ersätta än någonting massproducerat. Det skapar en emotionell koppling och vi värderar det därför högre. Vi är mer försiktiga, tar hand om det och lagar om det gått sönder.
En formgivning tänkt att hålla över tid och en förhoppning om att kunna utbilda och påverka konsumentens efterfrågan på mer hållbara produkter.
