‘We turn around in the night
and we are consumed by fire.’*
A floor, four walls and a ceiling – this space that we take for granted has not always been a feature for humans.
I learn what a space has meant for people; I learn what existed before we built a room for ourselves, what came after, and mainly, what was the role of the fireplace in this process of domestication.
In my degree project, I experiment with the focus within a space of four walls to better understand how the human approach to such a space has changed.

Ett golv, fyra väggar och ett tak – den här platsen som vi tar för självklar har inte alltid varit ett sätt att organisera människors boende.
Jag lär mig vad en plats har betytt för människor. Jag lär mig vad som fanns innan vi byggde ett rum till åt oss själva, vad som kom efter och framförallt vilken roll en eldstad har haft i den här processen.
I mitt examensprojekt experimenterar jag med ett fokus på en plats med fyra väggar för att bättre förstå hur vår relation till denna har förändrats.
